PERCY
Abyssinian Mix Male
DOB Approx: 4-20201
Percy is 2-3 year old GORGEOUS and SWEET Abyssinian mix. He is TALL and LEAN and has the beautiful Abyssinian coloring and almond eyes. He has the personality to match. He is the friendliest and smartest sweet boy in the world. He is gentle, calm, and loves every person he meets. He is confident and loving and does well with other cats and is happy with whatever attention he can get. He is living in a cage in his foster home...and so grateful. He never cries or begs to get out. He just reaches through the bars to grab the fosters as they go by.
You see, Percy's owners dumped him (and his friend Pippa outside at the apartment where they lived in single digit temperatures in January when they moved away. He stayed outside the sliding glass doors to "his" home for over a week waiting for his owners to let him in. The neighbors put food out for him and Pippa and when they found out that the owners had left for good, they called us. And there he was, still waiting for his "people." Percy is the gentlest cat you will ever meet. He has some hair loss on his back/neck and tail where he has been grooming himself excessively (this can be caused by stress so we are hoping that a safe warm home will help him get better and allow his hair to grow back.) Regardless he is a beauty and he is so smart and friendly....if you meet him you will love him.

NOAH
Buff Tabby DSH Male
DOB: Approx: June 2021
Sweet Noah has had a horrible horrible life and he is the sweetest boy. He once must have had a loving indoor home because he sat at the windows of homes in the small town outside Dayton…longingly looking in and begging with little paws on the windows to be let in.
The residents in the town put food out for him but there were many outdoor kitties in the area…so many thought he had a home somewhere. Then one day two unleashed large dogs rushed into the yard where Noah was sitting and broke into the fenced area where he ran for cover. A neighbor came out screaming when she saw the two dogs viscously attacking Noah and she rushed to his rescue.
Noah was barely alive when he was rushed to the vet. He almost lost an eye and went through a long recovery period where even the vet wasn’t sure he would make it. But the sweet strong loving boy lifted his little head one day and head bumped the neighbor that rescued him when she visited and they all knew he was fighting hard to stay alive.
He recovered…and during his recovery it was discovered that he had FIV (which is the cat version of human AIDs.). While cats with FIV can live long healthy lives, it is an immuno-deficiency disease that means that viruses that other cats can quickly overcome can be deadly to him. And while FIV is not easy to pass to other cats (it requires a bite wound to transfer to another cat) being around healthy cats that carry even minor viruses or being in a home where there is a lot of change or stress can cause the FIV to become full blown FIV.
So poor Noah…just when it looked like he may finally have a good future ahead has been served another round of bad luck. Who would ever adopt him knowing that he will need to be in a nice calm home without a lot of stress, without a lot of other cats, in a home where he will need to see the vet for blood tests at least once a year to make sure everything is okay inside. Now Noah has to be labeled as a special needs cat …and that means that he will most likely be overlooked when people are picking out a kitty to adopt.
Noah deserves more than this for the rest of his life. Could you give this sweet boy…a boy who loves everyone but who has had a horrible life so far…a home where he can be lived and protected? If you can give him a chance to have happiness for the rest of his sweet life, please complete an Adoption Application!
7-Up
Tortoiseshell DSH Female
DOB: Approx: June, 2022
7 UP is a sweet little girl who is so people focused, she wants to be with you always. 7 Up was bottle fed as a tiny kitten and is super attached to people. Bottle babies are called "velcro cats" for a reason - they love to be touching you! She will be the biggest baby and the best friend you will ever have! If you love snuggles, and love to be doted on by someone...this little girl is for you!
7 UP had crystals in her bladder and needed surgery to remove them and the surgery to remove the bladder stones was successful. This is not unheard of in cats...and while she will need to be on a special urinary diet and will need to be watched for signs of bladder stones she will live a totally normal, healthy and loving life with the person who promises to love her for the rest of hers.
As long as she is fed the correct wet/dry food, 7 UP should not have a major event but any adopter needs to understand her dietary needs.
Please do not overlook 7 UP for her medical issues. She is the sweetest, most loving, little girl we know and she has been passed around from foster home to foster home waiting for someone to pick her.
If you can give this little tortie girl what she has been waiting for her whole life, please complete an Adoption Application today!
DARWIN
Tuxedo DSH Male
DOB: Approx: June, 2021
Sweet little Darwin was found lying in a yard beaten up, bleeding and covered in fleas. We don’t know what he had been through before two girls found him lying there pleading for help from someone.
They contacted PetPromise and we knew we had to help this sweet soul….even having been through whatever he had been through he purred when people came to help
Him and he even head butted them to say thank you.
He went to the vet and was treated and neutered and we found out what we didn’t want to hear. This sweet boy had FIV. While FIV is certainly not a death sentence (FIV kitties can live happy long lives, just like people with AIDs) if cared for properly. (All he needs to stay in tip top shape are these things: indoor only home, vet visits at least 2X a year and more if he has a cold, daily lysine powder in his food. That's it! The powder is cheap and can be ordered from Amazon or Chewy. )
So the sad thing about his FIV status is that this sweet friendly super love bug of a boy may never get “picked” to be adopted because of his FIV+ status. People don’t understand that these babies can love and deserve a good happy life in a home where someone will love them even though they aren’t perfect.
New studies have shown that FIV+ and FIV neg cats can live together as long as the cats are neutered and no fighting is happening, as the new science suggests that the chance of transmission is relatively low. See https://www.humanesociety.org/news/fiv-positive-cats for more information. Further information on FIV in cats:
https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv
However, it would be great if Darwin were in a home without other cats (as they can share colds and viruses that do not affect them at all but which could be dangerous to Darwin because his immune system is compromised.
But no matter what…this boy just wants a home where he can cuddle (he loves loves loves people and is the friendliest boy.). We wish that people would give him a chance.
