What is a "special needs" pet? As the name implies, it is a pet that is physically or emotionally challenged in some way, or who has an impairment or limitation of one or more of its abilities—but not in its most important ability: the ability to give and receive love.

On behalf of these special pets, we ask that you make a decision with your head and not just your heart. Each of these pets will require more attention, time, love, and in some instances money, than the average household pet.

angels for animals!
Although we would love to find a forever home for each one of these very special animals, we understand that some of them may never find homes of their own because of their special circumstances. However, you can help change the life of one of these pets. By making a one-time donation of $240.00, YOU become the guardian "angel" for a year for the special needs cat or dog that you choose to sponsor. (You will receive a picture and thank you packet from your pet). By becoming an angel, you will be helping to provide for the special needs of your pet....the extra veterinarian care, special housing, medicine, food, etc. that he or she will need to live happily for the year.
I want to become an Angel for Animals !

foster a special needs pet!
In order to continue to help special needs pets we need foster parents willing to take one of these little ones in and provide them with the love and care that they deserve (without incurring the medical costs of the pet's special needs).
I want to learn more about fostering.

POO BEAR

POO BEAR ~ Female IBD, Kidney Failure
Approximate Birth Date: November 1986
Rescued: January 1997

Poor little Poo Bear is the sweetest little girl who came to us in early 1997 as a 12 year old kitty. She was dumped at a shelter after her owners divorced and and decided that neither wanted her. Poor Poo was so stressed at having been "thrown away" that she became ill. She lost over 1/2 of her body weight, pulled out all of her fur and had severe eye infections when she came to us. After months of medical testing and some close calls, Poo was diagnosed with Inflamatory Bowel Disease and has been in treatment ever since. She also has been diagnosed with and is being treated for kidney failure. She is doing well for an older girl and is such a lovebug....we can't imagine the world without Poo!

Cheyenne

CHEYENNE ~ Female Semi-Feral
Approximate Birth Date: August 1996
Rescued: March 1998

Poor little Cheyenee. She has had a hard life. She was found struggling to stay alive in a field in rural Virigina along with her first and second litter of kittens. Poor little Cheyenne, even after a lot of love from volunteers and her foster home and after a lot of work, she is still shy, when held her little heart races so fast and she curls up into a tight little ball. While several of her babies were adopted, Cheyenne is passed over again and again becuase she is so shy. Nevertheless, Cheyenne is warm and happy and living indoors where she recieves all of the food and protection that she never had while she was just a young little mother trying to care for her kittens out on her own.

ROO

ROO ~ Male Semi-Feral
Approximate Birth Date: September 1997
Rescued: March 1998

Roo is the son of Cheyenne. He is a beautiful big boy (21 lbs.) who wants to be the leader of a cat colony. Even though he is big and strong, Roo cowers in fear if held or when there is a lot of activity or noise nearby. He had to spend the first 7 months of his life outdoors in a field with his mother just trying to stay alive, so we are certain that his past has something to do with his shyness. Roo is a very special boy who deserves the soft easy life now.

Brown, White and Gray Calico Tabby; Short Hair
Approximate Birth Date: November 2001
Rescued: October 2002

Trix is a BEAUTIFUL and sweet little calico/tabby who was found on Halloween night...hiding from the children that were chasing her and throwing stones. She was very very thin...and starving for affection. (Apparently she had been going from house to house trying to get someone to let her indoors for days.) Trix just loves everyone...she will sit in your lap for hours...and loves to be brushed and petted. She would make the perfect best friend for someone out there. Unfortunately, little Trix was diagnosed with feline leukemia (FeLV). But she is healthy and happy. She can live for many years...won’t you give her a chance to have a family?
