why we need foster homes
Since PetPromise does not currently have a sanctuary, volunteer foster homes are at the heart of our animal rescue program. Without foster homes PetPromise could not save the lives of the homeless and abused pets that come to us needing help each year.
You can make a HUGE difference in the life of a homeless pet by agreeing to foster! PetPromise will provide all of the food and medical care needed by the pet while in your care. All that you have to do is take the animal into your home and provide loving care.
what it involves
During the time you foster an animal, we will continue to advertise her/him at our Pet Adoption Days, on our website, in our newspaper ads, etc., in order to find her/him a permanent home. We ask you to take the animal to one of our participating veterinarians for its vaccinations and other vet care. (We pay for all medical costs). We also ask that you assist in evaluating the animal's personality, likes, dislikes, etc.
 Bringing a foster pet into your home is often the first and most important step in giving them a new lease on life. Most of these pets have been homeless and and may have suffered from abuse and neglect.
When a foster family opens its home and hearts to one of these pets it is often the first time that the pet has ever felt loved. It is a rewarding experience that helps make the world better, one pet at a time.
There is no time limit on foster care while we attempt to find permanent homes for the animals. We do ask that the foster volunteers commit to care for their foster pet until a permanent home is found
