feral cat information:

  • trapping feral cats
  • feeding feral cats
  • FIV/FeLV testing for ferals

  • (A pair of breeding cats, which can have two or more litters per year, can exponentially produce 420,000 offspring over a seven-year period!)

Studies have proven that trap-neuter-return is the single most successful method of stabilizing and maintaining healthy feral cat colonies with the least possible cost to local governments and residents, while providing the best life for the animals themselves.

Helping Desperate City Kitties! Feral cats (cats who are fearful of humans)are frequently trapped and, because they have had little or no human contact and are thus unadoptable, they are killed.

Through our City Kitty Program PetPromise helps to trap and spay/neuter feral cats and then returns them to their original environment where their caretakers (often caring neighbors/families) continue to provide shelter, food and water for these cats. However, we have situations where it is not safe to put the cats back into their original environment (dogs are killing cats in the neighborhood, people are poinsoning cats, buildings that once provided shelter to the cats are being demolished, no one is able to feed the cats, etc.)

In order to save these precious lives and give them a second chance, PetPromise is desperate to find barns where we can relocate spayed/neutered feral cats who cannot be returned to the area from which they were rescued. We can loan cages for a short period of confinement, in order for the cat to adjust to his/her new home. Moreover, if your barn is currently occupied by unaltered cats, we can help alter these cats through our City Kitty Program.

All that we ask is that you provide provide daily food and water, protection from the elements, and long-term veterinary care. (We can assist caregivers with food as well if they are unable to absorb this cost.)

The cat(s) will help with rodent control in grain and storage areas, and also make good companions for horses or other livestock. You will also feel good knowing that you have saved the lives of cats that have fought hard to survive and who would otherwise not live much longer if returned to their original environment.

If you own property, know someone that does and would like to learn more about this project, please contact us at (614) PET.3849 or by email to citykitty@petpromise.org

Please help us provide safe and much-needed homes for these special cats so they will not become statistics and so they can continue to live their lives!
